That started out fantastically! The German Championship in Bischofsmais
is awesome, I thought to myself. The have a lift so you don't
have to push all the way to the top. So far so good. On Thursday
I took advantage of the nice weather and looked for a good route.
Luckily, since the forcast for Friday was rain all day long.
But funnily enough we could ride the same route as on the day
before and barely any bikers got lost on the course.
The course was really great, like 2 years ago. The upper part
was nice and rocky with edges and drops.
The lower part was like a freeride course with doubles and other
jumps.
So you found yourself in the air more often than on the ground.
On Saturday you could stand in line for 45min at the lift for
boredoms sake and then ride down in a lot of traffic and end
up bakc at the line.
The forest ground dried slowly and unevenly. I stepped on it
on a dry straight and in the upcoming curve I jumped over a
root, but landed too early and at a tilt right in front of a
rock. Ouch, that was loud! After checking all bike and body
functions and everything was okay, I checked my new Mad Max
carbon helmet and was shocked. My new helmet, for which I had
even splashed on a helmet sack, was broken. (booo!!!)
Now I could only ride in the championship showing one side of
my helmet and they were picky about missing handle bar end plugs.
In the evening we and our friends from Alutech , Power Flower
and Hot Chili made a small fire.
I could have stayed in bed on Sunday.
Training was from 8am to 9am and due to the wait at the lift
you ended up at the top by 9... nice planning people!!!! At
8:45 the lift was opened, the ride on it took about 12min with
over 300 bikers that wanted to train and a number of other bikers
that needed to be at the top by 9am for the Seeding Run.
What? Then I had to go to the doctor because I had gotten a
case of lumbago. After a massage and an unnecessary question,
"You aren't planning on riding DH today, are you?",
I made my way to the Seeding Run. To combine with the pain my
derailleur cable detached in the back. In the race I came in
14th in the Master Class division.
But it was still fun.
