The preparation triathlon competitions for the Ironman in Zurich are over and the new Pirate-Triathlon-Collection has proved its worth!!! 2 good events for me and great clothes from Ron!! The tri-outfits are really awesome and totally cool, thanks Ron!

A few days ago my first triathlon in the year 2005 took place!
I was a little apprehensive about the swimming in the 19th Bonn Triathlon!
In Bonn the distances are 2.5m/4km swimming, 37m/60km cycling through the mountainous region around Bonn and 9m/15km running... The special thing about the triathlon in Bonn is that the starting point for the swimming is off a boat on the Rhein. It goes with the current of course J... that's why the 2.5m/4km were over for me after only 32min. I was the 40th woman!!!
Okay so it would have been a little faster, if I hadn't swum back and breast stroke in between!
Somehow it was weird with all the big fat cutters on the other "side" of the Rhein!Luckily I didn't have any navigational problems after exiting!!! But, of course, I was not displeased!

Then came the wavey stretch around Bonn on my bike over 1970 vertical ft/600hm.
But that went pretty swiftly as well... of course I didn't want to kill myself on all the ascents and waves of the unknown course.
At about the 19th m/ 30th km Jörn came flying past me, since he was riding the relay….
I hadn't expected him that soon, but okay, he is the Captain ;) …
With 15th bike time I ended up back at the changing zone at the shore of the Rhein... and now for the running - my favorite part - where I really wanted to kick some ass and so I caught up to all my competitors right after the changing zone….yes!!!
I came in as the 4th female runner and was completely satisfied with my overall ranking - 4th place!!!

After our last "meeting" no one had seen the Captain... Not a good sign... when I reached the finish line I was told that he hadn't returned from the bike course... see last article by Captain-Crash... and this is howI saw him hours later all dressed and patched up…

The material and the outfit are fitting!!! Now all I need is good weather and a good day on the 17th of June in Zürich at the Ironman/woman Swiss, in order to kick ass as a Tri-Pirate…!!

I'm not wasting my time thinking about the Hawaii qualification yet!! The competition on that stretch will be tough enough and my age division only has one starting position for Hawaii and almost 50 contenders from all over the world!!! Let's see what happens there, I'll do my best.

One week after the triathlon in Bonn I was informed, during a barbecue that I was supposed to start at out teams own Eschweiler triathlon, with the possibility of being the city's champion!
No sooner told than done... luckily it was just a sprint with .3m/500m of swimming, 12m/20km of biking and 3m/5km of running!!
After the swimming at the public pool, came the 2 laps on the bike around the Blaustein lake and I was quickly in the lead of my starting block!
Okay it was a little weird leading the group without having any orientation!

After the biking came the 3m/5km of running! Not at a fast run, but definitely in first place I crossed the finish line after 1h10min14sec!
Winner of my age division and the title of city champion were my reward!
10sec were missing for me to take the overall win, because one of the starters from the second starter block was faster than I was …
