On the weekend of Pentecost, the time had come once again,

On Sunday May 4 2006, the race for the 8th Stevens Cup took place in Buchholz. The weather could have been a bit warmer, but at least it was dry, despite the harsh wind and only 53°F/12°C. Three riders for the Pirate team stood at the starting line and their new pink outfits were the topic of conversation.

The seniors had to take the 2.4m/3,8km lap with about 262 vertical ft/80hm six times, while the hobby riders took it 5 times.
Volker Simonsen and Robert Karrasch started in the senior division, where Volker didn't allow anything to go bad right from the beginning and finished after 1:03:39h and came in a whole 3.5min before Armin Raible, who was in 2nd place.

Robert finished after 1:12;18h and was in 8th place.
I, myself, rode in the hobby division and came in 6th after 1:01:19h.
All in all, it was a well executed event, despite the small number of participants.
Ciao,

André Zamponi
