WE
ARE SICK OF SAND
Mornin' Everybody, so now we've been in the saddle about 52
hours and the mann with the hammer keeps commin by to see
if he can take car of us yet, as in kill us. We aint making
it that easy for him though. The day acctually started really
normal today. With alotta speed over the dirt roads and then
an incline 2.500 hm- just about hard as normal- staying in
the race really well. Then we were reminded of why the Absa
Cape Epic is considered the hardest mountain bike race in
the world. With a run of 129 km, the last 30km were once again
on sand.
Anybody who's ever been on an extensive walk on the beach
in Sylt or else where can surely imagine how it feels to kick
into nothingness in a race on a mountain bike. But thats nohing,
as we were finishing up the last 5km back on normal hard ground,
a team mate yelled the words of the day "I am sick of
sand"
Other than that we were pretty besides ourselves, but extremly
happy that MS PIRATE would be at the gates of Kapstadt Saturday
morning.
