(33m/53km middle distance, up to about 4265ft) I had already
heard about the Sigma-Marathon beforehand and had actually
always wanted to participate in it, but for some reason or
another, it never worked out. This year, nothing was going
to get between me and it and I'm looking forward to it.
We left early and so were able to snatch a parking place very
near where the event took place - right by the showers. That
alone was just fantastic, because the event was not meagerly
attended.
Ubi had "only" been riding his racing bike this season and
so enjoyed the short distance, where he was still able to
finish in (a thankless?) 4th place.
In block 53, we detected another teammate - whata surprise:
Matthias made it to the start today too, jk. By the way, the
track was the bomb - even better than I had expected.
The weather was great too and I was able to finish - on thechnically
rather difficult track - in 51st place.
There were a few traffic jams on the middle distance, because
of the many participants and I was even forced to dismount
a few times, because I had to maneuver some of the passages
on foot.
So, like I said - an awesome track that wasn't as easy as
some others. I'd rather get off my bike a few times than be
yawning from boredom, right? Right! I believe the Sigma-Marathon
will find its rightful place in my race calendar in 2008 -
assuming that nothing gets in the way - Cheers!
