Bit
late now that it's mid of winter:
Last fall's (half)marathon in Darmstadt. Being very much acquainted
with the forest and fields behind my back door, I felt right at
home with the first open edition of the Darmstadt marathon. Unfortunately
this will be the only time for the race to be held on this wonderful
trail before it will change to a much more urban setting.

Hey
Pirates,
I represented Pirate Racing quite well yesterday at the Florida
State 5K & 10K time trial championships. The event was telecast
live on the internet with a rather large audience based on the feedback
I have gotten.
I won gold in both events and gave Pirate some good publicity.

Cycling is a hobby that can take up a lot of your time, but I'm
sure you already knew that. With a job and a family, it's not always
easy to cover all the bases, especially if you happen to have another
hobby, like a band, which can also take up a lot of time. Thus,
I alternate between training and band practice. Luckily my significant
other goes along for the ride and has understanding for my obsessions

Hola
Landlubbers,
near the end of my four-week, Canary Island marathon-training-program,
I found myself at the starting line of the short distance, at the
Open MTB Marathon Gran Canaria, on March 8th. I dealt with the fast,
gravelly creek-bed-carnage much better than the steep ascents on
La Palma, last weekend. It was my "push-race." I came in 8th in
the overall ranking and another win was due in my age division.....

Hola
Landlubbers,
after weeks of training, the La Palma Marathon was on for March
2nd. Our Spanish hosts conjured up some juicy ascents, hardcore
single trails, and insane amounts of gravel for the slopes in the
volcanic sand, on the short and long distance. My "visit" to the
farmacia, before the race, didn't help me in that respect at all…
At least it was enough for me to win the short distance in my age
division (AK40).

we booked a vacation on the slopes. Even at a height of almost 9850ft/3000m

Circumstances were quite different down in the valley, so after
a day of skiing, we sat out on the terrace in nearly 68°F/20°C weather.

the first day of rest on La Palma's west side, is fittingly a rainy

2nd. Since I will be probably be working til 8pm, I have planned
for it to start at 8:30pm, because the pool closes at 11pm. I welcome
company. This weekend, I want to go running, if anybody wants to
join me. Depending on the mood, either through the Alster Valley,
Saxon Forest, or along the banks of the Elbe. Maybe with a thermos
for afterwards. It'll be about a 6.2m/10km run, because I'm just
starting up again. Please forward this email to friends with good
resolutions.
