A well-staffed field at this years Championships of Germany in Winter Triathlon and also the ITU Winter Triathlon European Cup at the starting line.
You had to race over a typical hard Allgäu loop course and all the participants had to fight very hard.
Right from the start the strong Russian World Champion Pavel Andreev, the former winner from Italy Daniel Antonioli and the strong guy from Norway Kristian Monsen took the lead.
We ran a really fast speed on the first 5km.
The ambitious bike course over 12km was really good ridable because of the good weather conditions…
At the last part, the 10km of skate skiing, the participants had to run over really soft fake snow, and my ski wasn´t the best and felt like they were glued to the ground and it was quite hard racing on them, but at least I was able to finish on the 3rd place in my AG 40 and became German Champion as well.
Michael Göhner won for the 3rd time after 2007, 2011 the title of the German Champions in winter triathlon. He finished 3rd in this race only two Russian guys were ahead of him after 5km of run, 12km MTB and 10km of ski, the Russian World Champion Pavel Andreev and his fellow countryman Evgeny Kirillov.
