Obviously we expected good weather end of May fort he 24h Championship…
But soon we knew that the weather would be again cold, windy and wet. It seems that we booked this kind of weather for all our 24h races.
My mood was all bad before the contest because of a broken car ( engine), the weather and 2 cancellation of riders.
Anyhow I made up my way together with Stephan, a replacement rider, on the weather towards the Alfsee. Because of the damage of the engine I just drove around 110-120km/h. Half way, the lamp of the battery lit. Than Ede, passes us and after a short phone call, we were attended by him until our destination. Thank you Ede, later the man of the ADAC, wondered how we made the way there.
Than the battery light went off again and the light of the ABS and Airbag went on. Later when we drove thru a little town, I asked Stephan what he guesses how much we were driving, he said about 50km/h, we looked at the tacho, and it showed 105km/h.
On the lower picture you can see, the train, with the closes barriers and you can see the 105km/h on my tacho. Firt I though about to write, hopefully the barriers are opening soon.
When we finally arrived, all Pirates were in a good mood and really motivated for things to come. Toddy wanted to be the first rider on the course, and we knew why, because he was in 3rd position right after the start… Endlich angekommen waren alle Piraten gut gelaunt und voller Tatendrang.
Soon, the rain came and everyone could present their new rain clothes. You see the Alfsee in the back, is was full…
wow... back to the Roots, Powerbar ist he best. Everything else is just…well, it´s just….
Our paddock was built up and we had two areas. Rainer built up his Catering service perfectly and also made lots of nice pictures. Thank you Rainer, you´re the best.
Jost wanted to find his inner self and was a single starter, and right in the middle of a rainy night, he found out, that it´s nothing for him.
Andre did it again together with Miss Moonreker as a team by two.
Caro did a mixed team of two.
Antje made or needed a longer rest during the night J
..and Downhill Moonreker was the 2nd fastest national women on the course. Gratulations.
Suse ....is Suse ;)
Tom was really fast on his way…
Toddy got some luck and had a dry section to ride…
Awesome, in the night I gave my lights to Ede and Toddy nd mine didn´t work until the end. Doesn´t matter, if you´re pushing, you don´t need that much light. In my first night lap, my chain broke, fastly went back into the paddoxk and changed to Tom. Repaired my chain, and of clourse I didn´t want to make any chaos in the rider timetable and so changed again with Tom. And this time I received a flat tyre only 2km before the finish and so I walked the rest.
In Rainers kitchen you could find everything you needed. Delicious sausages, meat, potato or noodle salad and more, and more…
Even the foursome team of Mike Sonntag were attracted by it. Sadly, the other Pirates haven´t joined us as well.
Half-Pirate Ede had sensational split times around the lake, but at the end one was faster…
…and to recover and regenerate or maybe just to warm up their muscle. Rainer made as well some massages.
Than it was time to bite and fight…
Toddy finally finished his last two rounds
and soon we were able to recieve our trophy´s…
Next year we´ll be here again for sure.
Special thanks to the team of the Alfsee, fort he fantastic event and also thank you to:
