Indeland Triathlon 2011

Only one week before the start of the Indeland  triathlon I registered for the olympic diastance, because it is right around the corner of my house, in Blausteinsee or Aldenhoven. Already when I got my starting package the day before, we had thunderstorms, hail and heavy rain falls, and I regret my registeration, and I was really looking forward for the moment to escape the waters after 1500m of swimming… Even on race day morning, the weather wasn´t the best, the heavy wind got rid of the rain clouds, but also churned up the sea. The swimming course was like an U-turn, and the first way was very fast until the first buoy, no wonder, we had wind from behind, the next passgae to the 2nd buoy was more ambitious, and the speed reduced a bit, I got the feeling that the buoy swam as well and away from me, but sometime later I reached the 2nd buoy and just had to swim to the shore again, but that´s easier said than done, in between it felt like you´re in an ocean and not in a lake, and already my legs began to freeze, and I lost the feeling from them, and the shore didn´r came closer, but after endless 35min, I reached the shore, really frozen, and 35 min is really a bad swimming time, even for me. Well, no matter, just get on my bike to warm up again, it took 15km, until I reached a regular temperature again and I stopped to shiver, but even on the bike things became worse, because of the fierce wind.. Finally, when I got on the running course, I was in my element again and were able to find my rhythm. After 2:53h I reached the finish on the 4th place in the women´s ranking and on the 1st place in my age-group. Sveny
