How about a triathlon right in front of your own home??? We knew for sure, that the Pirates of the Pirate-Crew-Rhein-Ruhr, should participate at it, after the qualification, a fast registering for the demanded starting places. After we did that, nothing stood in the way anymore for a wondeful contest day-
While the others could sleep a little bit longer, Marco P.already made his way towards the start, because he wanted to do the sprinting distance.
What should I say about my brother? He did a good job, while he swimming in the muddy brew of the media-port, and he could defend his good position after the swimming up to the running part and ended up on the 10th palce overall and 3rd in his age-group. Congratulations. For the other Pirates, who slept a little bit longer, was the start in the early afternoon. The swimming were seperated into differnet starting boxes with 20min between it. At the swimming were some fierce fights at the beginning, but soon everybody was able to swim his own way and style. After two rounds in the media-port of Düsseldorf( a small hint, the water is not drinkable, for sure.) You start to enter the transition area over a steep ascent and because of the large amount of participants, the transition area were a little bit larger, but something was good, you got enough time to get rid of your wet-suit. The bike-course: here you had to absolve 2 rounds as well, it was a wonderful nice and fast course, until shortly before the end, after a narrow curve, you had to ride over a cobble-stone pavement and on the shoulder work you could see a nice picture of sponges, bottle-holder, bottles and tyres, even I lost my sponge at this point. But after all, we all reached the finish without any crash or pains the transition area again, after you entered the transition area, you had to run for quiet a long time with yur bike, before you were able to change for the running course. On the running course you had to run 4 rounds thru the media-port of Düsseldorf, and that means for rounds with lots of viewers and spectators, with a wonderful temper. We really enjoyed to see Roman at the side of the running course with a waving Pirate flag in his hands, who cheered at us louder than the others... At this point: welcome to our team, we hope, we´ll see us again very soon, to give him back the support he gave us today
After the wonderful, but hard day, we met us at Marco S. house for a BBQ, it was a wonderful ending of the day...
