TrengaDe Clausthal-Zellerfeld Marathon at the 3.06.2012

When I stand at the starting line of the 102km long distance bike marathon in the Harz at 9:00o´clock under such bad weather conditions, I didn´t know yet, that it would be a really mud party after all. Shortly after the starting signal, the rain started as well and wouldn´t stop. It can´t be, because of Moni, because she had a BBQ at the Alfsee…. …and sometimes on her bike in a cyclo-cross team of 8. But anyhow, it was mine very own choice. So, I rode on a really bad course, with path channels up to 50cm deep and really wide and floated with water. And because it is so funny when cyclists crashes, the put some stones, brushwood and branches in the channels. Lots of viewers, spectators and supporters you were able to find at at creek crossing, I heard of lots of people crashed here and became not only wet from above, as well from down under… IN the middle of the 2nd round of 3 on the long distance, I crashed my gear ride of my bike in a trail channel near the “ Wilder Mann”. There I wstand, all alone in the middle of nowhere, soaking wet and without any point of orientation. Luckily I was found by a track attendant, who just saif, I should stop crying, it´s not that bad. It took me over an hout to get back to the start and my parking lot. Conclusion: I won nothing, no points and bike broken. Later when I read about winning the German Championship in Cyclo-Cross at the Alfsee, I had to cry some tears again… Next time I´ll listen to Moni…. André Döring
