A wonderful time at the Alsace…

Moin Pirate brood… or  friends of the Pirate brood  or those who wants to become some of this… Your Hakan had this crazy idea, if his wife has to work in the south of Germany. That he can travel there as well, and maybe to visit some friends across the Rhine to visit some good friends in the Alsace and because of the fact, that it´s quite beautiful there, e thought that it would be a good idea to take his road bike with him, and because that he can´t leave his kids alone. He brought the bike trailer for the kids as well. Cool…. Wrapping everything inside and on the car, bike, trailer luggage, kids and more. Check…And in the evening I start my trip. Kids asleep? Check…Start….Pirate car is fully loaded and ready to take of…ignition….The car is fuel up, I´ve to drive about 850km to Bischofsheim/ Alsace. We got our sun glasses and the coffee is hot…full speed. I rode all night to arrive for the breakfast, so the kids could sleep all night, the first thing I did when I arrived was to buy rolls and croissant at the bakery for the breakfast. Delicious. Than I took a nap… After I woke up later that day,I remarked how nice the weather was, and decided to get the kids inside the trailer for a bike trip. Whew, it´s warm here. Wonderful, it´s summer. After I packed everything we broke up fort he first inquiry of the landscape.   A wonderful view over the grapevine. Wonderful small and quiet roads, I fell in love with them… Well… riding and taking a picture, if it work?  Take a look yourself…. My kids getting tired of my style of riding… Than we entered some small villages and wonderful little towns. The people here, were really friendly and the weather was really nice. What do you want more? The church of Rosenheim… The streets and the bakery… Small alleys, silent villages…Alsace, wonderful…! OK… it´s time for a little reward for daddy…! A typical rural coffee-shop, everwhere you look…flowers. Daddy´s beer and chasers….for transit… part one Delicious!!! And for the tiny….the small one…. The smallest still wanted to sleep, I can understand him… Than weh ad to ride all the way back again, finally we arrived home, tired but satisfied. The first day here was wonderful…. Than I read in the newspapers, that the Tour d´Alsace is on the way, and that one stage will end here in Bischofsheim. Awesome… (http://www.touralsace.fr/uploads/carte-generale-ta2012-site.jpg) I thought, but it would be really awesome, if I would ride with my bike, the trailer and the kids near the finish, to wait for the first, just to cross the finish line before him, with the bike, trailer kids and me waving up my hands. If the people of Alsace would understand some fun??? Well, I tried, but than….that day was really hot and I didn´t want the kids to sit and wait in the trailer with these hot temperatures and alone without the trailer and the kids the try is not that funny and I thought to myself, that I wouldn´t be able to ride that fast, even without the trailer, but maybe one time…. Well, than I went to village just to watch the winner ceremony… Yes, the french, are really mad about bikes., maybe because of that they aren´t able to ride a car, but I had to learn, that the Swiss people even ride more worse than the French. However…sadly that my idea didn´t come true, but I would have make it, anyone who knows me, know I did… Thomas from the kingdom of Swabian. Than I had the idea to call Thomas from the kingdom of Swabian, it´s not that far away I thought. And, yes we met, he said he would be in Colmar on Friday, and Colmar is just around the corner, but somehow, we misunderstood ourselves and so tried again to meet each other on Sunday. What else you can do on a fucking Sunday??? In the fact of rain in Swabian and sunshine in the Alsace? Take a ride in the Alsace of course. Great, Thomas came to Bishofsheim, just another coffee, kids, bike and trailer and we went for a little trip… We went towards Mt. St. Odile, there is an abbey up there on 764m above sea level. Once I was up there by car, i just can remember that it was really steep. A wonderful view above the Rhine valley towards Straßbourg, if you want to know more:http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odilienberg. Than we went from Bischofsheim to the Abbey, it´s not far away. It´s just 706m of altitude away over 16km. Well, get on the bikes, it was a little bit harder than I thought, but with two small breakes for the “ KIDS”, we finally made it. A coffee and a coke, like a beer and a chaser, part two…A Pirate-break up on the peak. The kids had fun, and so had we….And as an exception they were allowed to drink a lemonade…Welcome to the dark side…. After the break, kids in the trailer and downhill, first bust your legs, than your breakes… Just a fast look towards the abbey… Than the abbey from downstars und further on… Thomas just rolled downhill, first of all, he was right in front of me, than he got the idea of passing the cars on the right hand side… Und dann hat er doch auf mich gewartet… und wir konnten etwas vorsichtig hinunterfahren. When we arrived at the foot of the mountan, the clock was ticking and Thomas had to drive home again, because he had to work the next day. Sadly… because he missed this… Beer and chasers part three… Well, such an end for such a wonderful day, I had lots of fun and I hope Thomas too. We can repeat it, if you want, or we just make a Pirate trip in the Alsace. Having said this….we´ll see us at the Nürnburgring for the 24h race and than at my home for the : Hakan´s Bike Weekend…in Riepsdorf.   Your Hakan
