The Pink Pirate at the Fisherman’s Friend StrongmanRun 2012

This years StrongManRUn was again at the Nürburgring for the 2nd time. The weather conditions this year were really un-comfortable, heavy rainfalls and fog were vera hard fort he athletes. You had to absolve a 11km long course with lots of hindrances and you had to run it twice. Each round you had 15hindrances, on was the: panic pool, it was really ice cold… It was a 40m long pool with a water temperature of 8degrees. Than you had to climb up a 5m high pyramid made of containers, crossing a swinging bridge, yu had to run thru a field with down hanging electric wires and to creek thru a 15m long tunnel filled up with pebbles, climb over an 15m high hill of car tyres, walk thru deep mud and some more unpleasant things. Lots of mud at hindrance number 13… Courage on the swinging bridge.. There were 19551men and 1476 women participating here, but only 8263men and 1031women saw the finish line. How about the pink Pirate, with the start number 706? He finished on the 706th place overall, after 2:48h, he finished the StrongMan Run for the 4th time. You felt very electric, at the 10th hindrance… You even had some celebrities on the start, like the former box-world champion Sven Ottke, he did two rounds or the comedian Oliver Pocher, he just ran one round. The winner was again the world best hindrance specialist from Göttingen: Knut Höhler.
